Apply for funding to take part in Lord Mayor’s Show 2012
The City of London Corporation is offering London’s community
groups the opportunity to showcase their work at this year’s Lord
Mayor’s Show on 10 November 2012. The three selected groups will
receive free entry to the Show, a grant of up to £15,000 and the
help of professional designers to produce an eye-catching
float.
The Lord Mayor’s Show has been taking place for almost 800
years. It is a colourful procession through the Square Mile to
welcome the new Lord Mayor of the City of London, who will spend a
year representing the City and the UK financial services industry
at home and abroad.
The Show is the largest parade of its kind in the world. Last
year there were more than 6,000 participants, 63 floats, 23
marching bands and 18 carriages. It is televised live on BBC1 to a
domestic audience of 1.6million and hundreds of thousands of people
line the route to join in the celebrations.
Every year, participants comment on how taking part in the show
is an unforgettable and highly-rewarding experience. The City of
London Corporation runs a Community Involvement Scheme, which
provides for three selected groups to receive funding and
assistance for a place in the Show each year. For more information,
please contact Claire Holdgate at the City of London Corporation on
