City of London Corporation Chairman welcomes AON insurance
giant to Square Mile
Stuart Fraser, the Chairman of Policy and Resources for the City
of London Corporation - which supports and provides local authority
services for the Square Mile business district - said today that
AON’s decision to relocate its global headquarters is
fantastic news for the City:
‘AON’s decision to relocate its global HQ to London pays further
testimony to London’s position as the world leading financial
centre. The London market is the world’s leading market for
internationally traded insurance and reinsurance, with the greatest
ease of access to emerging markets, as well as the greatest number,
range, and calibre of insurers and reinsurers worldwide.
‘AON clearly remain committed to their business operations in
the US, but the decision to relocate their global HQ to London
places them in a better position to access emerging markets as they
increase their investment in international operations, and indeed
positions them closer to the Lloyd’s of London insurance
market.’
‘AON’s move is good for global insurance – and good for the
City.’’
London is the only global hub to contain all 20 of the world’s
largest insurance and reinsurance firms. The City is truly
international in its scope and scale and its world-leading firms
are well placed to capitalise on new markets. AON’s move to London
will further bolster the competition and variety that makes London
so unique.”
