Sign up for the first-ever 5km Wanstead Flats run

Spring is just around the corner and the upcoming Wanstead Flats Run is a great way to get fighting fit for the warmer months.

The community run will take place on Easter Monday, 5 April, at the Wanstead Flats playing fields on Aldersbrook Road.

If you are aged 16 or above you can take the five kilometre route and there is also a three kilometre route for 11 to 16 year-olds.

There will also be lots of fun activities to enjoy on the day including face painting, football tournaments and refreshments on sale.

Chairman of the City of London's Epping Forest Committee Mrs Barbara Newman said: "The Wanstead Flats Run offers a fun day out for the whole family, with plenty of activities that will keep both adults and children entertained. For serious runners, it offers a chance to prepare for the London Marathon while others can enjoy a more leisurely jog while taking in the sights of Wanstead Flats."

Newham Councillor Kay Scoresby said: "This is a great opportunity to get active and have some fun with local residents.

"There’s plenty of time to get in shape before the big day, so I urge everyone to sign up and get training now."
