City Academy gets top marks from OFSTED

The City of London Academy Islington has achieved the highest grade possible, a “good” from a monitoring visit from OFSTED last month. The inspectors said the Academy has “an outstanding capacity” to improve and praised its achievements since opening 18 months ago.

The report highlighted the fact that the students enjoy learning and make good progress towards challenging targets. It also said that students enjoy school which is “confirmed by their positive attitudes to learning and their improving attendance.”

Ann Palmer, Principal said: “The Academy is incredibly pleased that we have made such a positive start. We have great belief in what we are doing and the recent OFSTED report bears testament to the incredible work which is taking place on a daily basis. We know with the support of our sponsors, City University London and the City of London Corporation, standards will continue to improve even further. We have set our sights on being one of the best academies in the country!”

Richard Regan, Chair of Governors said: “Our capacity to improve sets tough targets which I know we can and will achieve. This is a superb result!”
