City of London Corporation statement on unauthorised telephone kiosks

Seven kiosks with advertising posters have been installed in the City of London. The kiosks had all been refused planning permission and are therefore in breach of planning legislation. Although the planning application was for phone boxes, several of the kiosks do not have functional telephones in them.

The City of London Corporation takes breaches of planning control very seriously. We are moving swiftly to ensure appropriate enforcement action as soon as possible. Legal enforcement notices under the Town and Country Planning Act 1990 are proposed to be served on the owner of the kiosks shortly which would include Site Notices displayed on all the kiosks in the City.
