Sax in the City

The annual Sax in the City jazz festival returns to Leadenhall Market in the City of London from Monday 27 until Friday 31 July. Leadenhall Market is owned and managed by the City of London Corporation.

In its fourth year, this event has a programme of jazz taking place every lunchtime. Musicians from the Guildhall School of Music will perform jazz greats with a different theme running through each of the five days.

The music will take place from 12 noon until 2pm daily. Thursday 30 July is Party Night when there will also be music from 6pm – 9.30pm. In addition, throughout the week, Market traders will be selling their wares at BBQ and food stalls.

Alec Mumford, Festival Organiser said:

“This is our fourth year with the best line up yet. Not only do we have the Guildhall School of Music but on Thursday evening Party Night we have the winners of the Cheltenham Jazz Festival 2009, Cattle Market; Steve Gregory who is known for being the saxophonist in George Michael’s Careless Whisper; and Client Number 9, a band made up of members of the insurance industry will each perform live on stage.”
