UK – Mexico Business Seminar - Trade and Investment Opportunities in Mexico

Keynote address by the President of the United Mexican States Felipe Calderón Hinojosa with presentations by three senior Mexican Government Ministers and UK Minister for Trade and Investment, Lord Mervyn Davies

Tuesday 31 March 2009 1.30 – 5.30pm (please note that VIP guests arrive from 4pm) at Skinners’ Hall, 8½ Dowgate Hill, London EC4R 2SP

The City of London, ProMexico, UKTI, Confederation of British Industry and Canning House, are co-organising a business event as part of the programme for the State Visit of the President of Mexico.

The aim is to bring together senior UK and Mexican business figures in order to consider trade, investment and low carbon growth opportunities. The Seminar will strengthen existing relationships and encourage the development of closer business links.

  1. Market and Sectoral Business Opportunities in the Mexican Economy – Ing. Gerardo Ruiz Mateos, Secretary of State for the Economy.
  2. PPP/Infrastructure Finance – Dr. Bruno Ferrari, Director General for ProMexico.
  3. The Strengths and Advantages of the Mexican Financial System – Minister for Finance.

    Lord Davies will give a speech on Government support for business in Mexico. The Rt Hon the Lord Mayor will introduce the President.

    The President of Mexico will give a key note address on trade and investment opportunities in his country.

To attend the business event:

  • All media must apply for accreditation by Monday 30 March. Places are very limited.
  • Photographers and reporters attending the event are asked to arrive at 4pm on Tuesday 31 March 2009.
  • Pre-accredited members of the media should report to the Reception at Skinners Hall, where they will be given their security passes.
  • Please ensure that all members of the media are suitably dressed in dark lounge suits and ties or the equivalent for ladies.
  • Please also ensure that all mobile phones and Blackberries are switched off throughout the event (both inside and outside).
  • Regrettably there are no parking facilities available.

Guildhall state banquet in honour of The President of the United Mexican States

7.00pm on Tuesday 31 March 2009 at Guildhall, off Gresham Street, London, EC2

On Tuesday 31 March 2009, in the presence of Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, the City of London Corporation and the Lord Mayor of the City of London will host a banquet in honour of President of the United Mexican States Felipe Calderón Hinojosa.

On his arrival at Guildhall, the President will be greeted by a Royal Salute, given by the Guard of Honour, and the Mexican national anthem will be played. The President will then be invited to inspect the Guard of Honour.

The following media opportunities will be available:

  1. Arrivals on Guildhall Porch - from 7.00pm and inspection of the Guard of Honour
  2. Procession into Dinner in Great Hall - from 7.50pm
  3. Speeches after Dinner in Great Hall - from 9.45pm

Media Facilities:
Due to space constraints, media access to the event will operate on a pooled basis.

At the Banquet:

  •  All media must apply for accreditation in advance and through the pool system.
