West Ham Park achieves Green Heritage Site status
West Ham Park was awarded Green Heritage Site status at the
Green Flag Award ceremony last Thursday (23 July).
Green Heritage Sites are a specific accreditation within the
Green Flag Award scheme. The aim of Green Heritage Site status is
to promote the value of and the best practice in the care and
upkeep of historical sites. Green Heritage Sites must be a minimum
of 30 years old.
Stella Currie, Chairman of the City of London's Managers of West
Ham Park Committee said: “I am very proud of the team at West Ham
Park and the local community support that has helped us retain
Green Flag for the 11th year running and achieve Green Heritage
status for West Ham Park, for the first time. The award will help
recognise, celebrate and support the wonderful history associated
with this City of London open space”.
