Queen's Park awarded best efforts in sustainability in the
country
Queen’s Park was awarded a special innovation award for
sustainability at the Green Flag Award ceremony last Thursday (23
July).
The Green Flag award scheme bestows only seven parks and green
spaces across the country with special awards for innovation.
The team at Queen’s Park was recognised for a recently installed
water irrigation system. The new system absorbs rain water and
recycles it to water the grass and plants throughout the park. By
recycling water in the sprinkler system, Queen’s Park
simultaneously promotes a sustainable agenda and saves time and
money on staff.
Michael Welbank, Chairman of the Queen’s Park and Highgate Wood
Management Committee said: “This award is an exciting achievement
for Queen’s Park. The recycled water irrigation system is a
terrific accomplishment and a tremendous step towards a more
sustainable park. This award is a true testament to the time and
efforts of the Queen’s Park staff involved in creating and
installing the irrigation system and we are immensely grateful for
all of their work.”
