Policy Chairman Stuart Fraser with Mayor of London Boris Johnson

September 14 2009

Policy Chairman attends NYSE closing bell ceremony

Stuart Fraser, the Chairman of the Policy and Resources Committee at the City of London Corporation, attended the closing bell ceremony at the New York Stock Exchange today.

The Policy Chairman was joined by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson and Chief Executive Officer of NYSE-Euronext Duncan Niederauer at the prestigious event. Mr. Fraser and Mayor Johnson rang the closing bell together to signal the end of trading at the exchange.

The Policy Chairman is scheduled to attend a series of high-profile meetings with the New York business community to help strengthen ties between the two cities.

He also visited the flagship Disney store yesterday (13 September) after The Walt Disney Company recently signed a deal with the City of London, Oxford Street and Regent Street to provide this year’s Christmas lights across the capital. The lights will be themed around Disney’s new film version of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, which will have its world premiere in London on Tuesday 3 November.
