Have your say - Burnham Beeches needs your opinion
The City of London is inviting members of the public along to
Burnham Beeches from Friday 13 to Sunday 15 November
(8.00am–4.00pm) to register opinions on the ancient woodland.
Burnham Beeches users can help to make the site an even more
special place for both locals and visitors by participating in this
important public consultation.
Speak to a member of staff on any of the above days on the main
common at Burnham Beeches Nature Reserve near the Café and Info
Point to register your opinions. The team at Burnham Beeches look
forward to seeing you and hearing your thoughts.
The current five year management plan soon to run out and any
appropriate feedback will be incorporated in the next one. The new
ten year plan is due to be published by April 2010 and the opinion
from public is of great importance.
Andy Barnard, Superintendent of Burnham Beeches said:
‘This is an opportunity for visitors to view and comment on the
proposals that will help us achieve our 500 year vision for Burnham
Beeches, and by consulting as widely as possible we hope, where
possible, to be able to adapt the plan to accommodate our visitors
suggestions, before sending it for approval to the City of London’s
Open Spaces Committee and Natural England.’
Burnham Beeches National Nature Reserve is owned and managed by
the City of London and has been since 1880, in that time many
things have changed, but the need to care for, and manage the
reserve has not. Since 1993 there has been a site management plan
that sets out in detail how the site will be run. The aim of
the plan is to achieve a good balance between the needs of
recreation, conservation and external influences such as planning
controls and national legislation.
Further details about the event are available from the
Burnham Beeches office on 01753 647 358.
