Hampstead Heath awarded best community engagement in the
country
Hampstead Heath was awarded a special innovation award for
community engagement at the Green Flag Award ceremony last Thursday
(23 July).
The Green Flag award scheme bestows only seven parks and green
spaces across the country with special awards for innovation.
The team at Hampstead Heath was recognised in particular for a
DVD organised by Samantha Crosby, the Community Education Officer
at Hampstead Heath. The DVD featured young people who frequent
Hampstead Heath for various reasons—photography, exercise,
sports—explaining the Heath’s role in their lives.
Michael Welbank, Chairman of the Hampstead Heath Management
Committee said: “This award is a great achievement that for the
Heath. The DVD produced by the Hampstead Heath team is a true
testament to the impact the Heath has on the lives of Londoners on
a daily basis. We are continually grateful to all the people at
Hampstead Heath who make it such a gem of local life in the
City.”
