Get into costume at World Book Day in the Barbican Library
Book worms are being invited to ‘guess the character’ at the
Barbican Library’s Costume Quiz, as part of World Book Day next
week (Thursday 5 March).
The annual World Book Day is a chance to celebrate books and
reading, and there will be a chance for the City’s workers,
residents and students to find out more about the Barbican Library
- and how to become a member - during the event, which runs from
11.00am - 7.30pm.
During the Costume Quiz, visitors to the Library will be
encouraged to identify characters from a large range of literary
genres, including fairy tales, classical literature, science
fiction, crime, fantasy, adventure and romance. Some of the
characters will be drawn from other cultures and literature in
languages other than English - and many of them will be instantly
recognisable.
“World Book Day is a great event and we’re hoping that people
will come along, find out about the Library and pit their wits
against other book lovers who enter the quiz. Whether they’re
hooked on history or enjoy a bit of romance or adventure, we’re
sure that there’ll be something here for everyone,“ says John Lake,
Barbican Librarian.
