Comment from City Policy Chairman Stuart Fraser on today's
Government Paper
Speaking after the Chancellor today released details of
Government plans to reform the financial system, Stuart Fraser, the
Chairman of the City of London’s Policy and Resources Committee,
said:
‘The global financial crisis needs a globally-coordinated
approach to careful reform and regulation and we welcome the
Government’s proposals as part of that.
‘Getting this right is vital for the UK’s financial health over
the next generations and we will be gathering views widely over the
next weeks to ensure that any new legislation and powers meet the
reality as well as the rhetoric.
‘But there are bound to be many points of close debate and the
City’s job is to make the case for reasoned reform that deal with
the real issues.
‘We have already identified a number of important points in the
Paper that we will be taking up at the earliest opportunity.’
