City of London planning policy consultation opens
The City of London Corporation’s consultation on its Draft Core
Strategy opens on 9 November and runs until 21 December.
The Draft Core Strategy forms part of the Local Development
Framework, a series of documents which together will set out the
planning policies for the City of London. The Core Strategy
is the first of these documents to be prepared and outlines the
planning vision for the City to 2026.
There was a previous consultation in the summer of 2007 on the
broad preferred approach which has since been consolidated into
this draft policy document. It outlines how the City will
develop in terms of being a world class financial and business
centre that is sustainable, enhances culture and heritage and
provides for local communities. It also highlights new
policies for particular locations undergoing change including:
- Crossrail and the North of the City
- Cheapside and St Paul’s
- Eastern cluster
- Aldgate
- Thames and the Riverside
The Core Strategy will be available to view from the City of
London website www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/ldf ; at
libraries within the City and at the Planning and Transportation
reception in the Guildhall North Wing from the start of the
consultation period.
A series of workshops will be held on 12, 20, 23 and 25 of
November 2009 at Guildhall focusing specifically on the policies
for the five locations. Further information on the workshops
and the LDF is available from the City of London Development Plans
Team on 020 7332 1712 or email
