Burnham Beeches awarded best marketing in the country
Burnham Beeches was awarded a special innovation award for
marketing at the Green Flag Award ceremony last Thursday (23
July).
The Green Flag award scheme bestows only seven parks and green
spaces across the country with special awards for innovation.
The team at Burnham Beeches was recognised for two new
innovations in marketing: their car park donation machines and
supporters badge scheme.
The car park donation machines are located in the main car
parking bays at next to information points. The information points
help visitors to orientate themselves, give a brief background
about the site, spell out a few simple do’s and don’ts, and direct
visitors to the Information Centre and café for further
information. Next to these information points stand the new solar
powered donation machines. Visitors are encouraged to make
voluntary contributions to support the cost of running the site.
People can donate as little or as much as they wish and in return
receive a sticker thanking them for supporting Burnham Beeches.
The supporters badge scheme was designed for very regular
visitors of Burnham Beeches who may not wish to contribute via the
voluntary car park scheme. These visitors can purchase a gold,
silver, or green badge dependant upon how much they wish to
contribute (green being the cheapest and gold the most expensive)
and display them in any window, albeit car or home.
Andy Barnard, Superintendent of the City of London's Burnham
Beeches / Barbara Newman, Chairman of the City of London’s
Committee responsible for Burnham Beeches said: “This marketing
award is an exciting accomplishment for Burnham Beeches. Our car
park donation machines and supporters badge scheme are two exciting
innovations for the National Nature Reserve. We are pleased to see
how well visitors to the Beeches have responded to this scheme. I
would like to applaud the staff involved and we are honoured to be
recognised for our efforts.”
