A new Private Secretary to the Lord Mayor of the City of London has been appointed

William Chapman has been appointed as the Private Secretary to the Lord Mayor of the City of London. Chapman has worked widely as a civil servant in Whitehall, including two periods in the Prime Minister's office where he worked for John Major and Tony Blair, and latterly in the role of director of policy in the Tony Blair Faith Foundation. He is set to take over in July from Kay Brock, the current Private Secretary to the Lord Mayor.

Mr Chapman, 57, said: ‘It has been a great privilege to be involved in establishing the Tony Blair Faith Foundation but working at the heart of the City and leading the Lord Mayor’s team in these challenging times is a once in a lifetime opportunity which I am looking forward to immensely.’

Lord Mayor Ian Luder said: ‘Kay Brock has done a sterling job during her five years at the Mansion House and we will miss her as she goes on to take on new challenges, including Chairmanship of the youth charity Dance United and a number of advisory and consultancy roles. I very much look forward to welcoming William here at the beginning of July. I know he will bring valuable experiences to the role.’
