Lady Mayoress to visit West Ham Park

The Lady Mayoress of the City of London, Theresa Lewis, will open a new glass house at West Ham Park when she visits tomorrow (Tuesday 3 June).

Accompanied by Sheriffs’ wives Barbara Bear and Lin Luder, the Lady Mayoress will tour the 77 acre park in the London Borough of Newham, which has been owned and managed by the City of London Corporation since 1874.

One of the main features of the park is the plant nursery, which houses some 280,000 bedding plants propagated for use in the City’s open spaces throughout the Square Mile as well as Hampstead Heath and West Ham Park itself. The Lady Mayoress will officially open a new heating system for the nursery, housed within a purpose-built glass-house and will unveil a commemorative plaque.
