Lord Mayor's Pre-Budget Report comment

The Lord Mayor of the City of London is elected to represent the UK's financial services industry. Speaking after the Chancellor's pre-budget report today, Lord Mayor Ian Luder said:

"The Chancellor’s measures are bold at this time and we all hope they achieve the objective of stabilising the economy and minimising the recession. The City particularly welcomes the changes in the tax arrangements for companies remitting overseas income, and the review which has been announced to deal with the problem of companies leaving the UK. The City will play our part and stands ready to work with the FSA on its review of financial regulation, so that financial services can continue to play a key role in the UK economy and to compete in tougher world markets. The help for small and other businesses and arrangements for empty properties should help too."
