HM Queen honours City of London Corporation figures

Four well-known City of London Corporation figures have been honoured in today’s Honours List by Her Majesty the Queen.

Alderman Lewis has received a Knighthood and is now Sir David Lewis. Sir David was Lord Mayor of the City of London and elected head of the City of London Corporation from November 2007 to November 2008 after serving as Sheriff for the previous year ( see separate release).

Pauline Halliday, Deputy for Walbrook Ward and former Chief Commoner and Chairman of the leading City Lands and Bridge House Estates Committee, was awarded the OBE: Deputy Halliday’s has given long service to the City of London including the Livery.

Martyn Baker, who recently retired as Director of Economic Development for the City of London, was also honoured with an OBE. He was instrumental in enhancing the City of London Corporation's Economic Development role including the setting up of its EU Advisory Group and its overseas offices in Brussels, China and India.

Long-serving elected member of the City’s Common Council Rodney Fitzgerald, Deputy for Bread Street Ward, was honoured with an MBE. He has worked tirelessly over many years for youth causes, particularly in sport.
