City of London welcomes new Mayor of London
Stuart Fraser, Chairman of Policy & Resources at the City of
London Corporation, today welcomed the newly-elected Mayor of
London Boris Johnson and asked for his support in fighting for
better London infrastructure – and a fair share of national
resources.
Mr Fraser, whose Policy & Resources Committee steers the
work of the City of London Corporation in looking after the Square
Mile business district and in working with local and national
government, said:
“I congratulate Mayor Boris Johnson and urge him to do his
utmost to fight for Londoners – day in and day out:
“The City needs a Mayor of London who works hard to make sure
London gets the infrastructure it needs, especially public
transport - and who shows strong leadership in getting Crossrail
delivered.
“The City of London also wants a Mayor who helps makes sure
London gets its fair share of national resources. London makes a
net contribution of 20 billion pounds to the rest of the UK and
this wealth-generation needs to be nurtured.”
