City of London Corporation gives £50,000 to Red Cross for its
two Africa appeals
The City of London Corporation, a long-standing supporter of the
British Red Cross, has agreed to donate £25,000 to their current
appeal to help the people of Zimbabwe and Southern Africa where
many people are struggling to get clean water and enough food.
The Lord Mayor of the City of London Ian Luder said: “We have
responded swiftly to the appeal because the situation there is
critical. The people are suffering from a severe cholera outbreak,
while water and sanitation systems are at breaking point. I hope
others will join us and help the Red Cross help those who are
suffering greatly.”
For a number of years, the City of London Corporation has made
contributions towards appeals launched by the British Red Cross
Society following humanitarian disasters and recent grants include
£25,000 to help the people in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
