Animal Health Statement
City of London Corporation statement:
Following the issuing of an Article 13 Notice by the City of
London Corporation, we can confirm that the animal in question left
the UK from Heathrow this afternoon in compliance with animal
health laws.
The City of London's investigations into the incident are
continuing.
Background:
Article 13 of the Animal Health Act 1981 and Rabies (Importation of
Dogs, Cats and Other Mammals) Order 1974 requires the animal to be
surrendered to quarantine or re-exported to the country from which
it travelled.
The City of London Corporation is responsible for enforcing the
legislation regarding the importation of animals for the whole of
the Greater London Area.
