Animal Health Statement

City of London Corporation statement:

Following the issuing of an Article 13 Notice by the City of London Corporation, we can confirm that the animal in question left the UK from Heathrow this afternoon in compliance with animal health laws.

The City of London's investigations into the incident are continuing.

Background:
Article 13 of the Animal Health Act 1981 and Rabies (Importation of Dogs, Cats and Other Mammals) Order 1974 requires the animal to be surrendered to quarantine or re-exported to the country from which it travelled.

The City of London Corporation is responsible for enforcing the legislation regarding the importation of animals for the whole of the Greater London Area.
