Hampstead Heath litter blitz 2007
- 11 June 2007, 9.45am
- In front of Parliament Hill Lido, Hampstead Heath
- Nearest train station: Gospel Oak
Dozens of volunteers will have their rubber gloves and bin bags
at the ready when they embark on the 6th annual Hampstead Heath
litter blitz.
Hampstead Heath Management Committee Chairman Bob Hall and local
residents (and former political advisors) Alastair Campbell and
Fiona Millar will roll up their sleeves to help 10 teams undertake
a co-ordinated litter sweep of the Heath and Kenwood Estate.
The project is jointly organised by the City of London, which
manages the Heath, and English Heritage, in conjunction with
volunteer group Heath Hands.
The group will set out from points across the Heath at 10.30am,
collecting rubbish as they go, and meet up at Kenwood House at
12.30pm for the count-up.
Bob Hall said: “Many of the visitors to the Heath are
conscientious and dispose properly of their litter or take it home
with them. But there is still a problem with a minority who leave
it to spoil the beauty of Hampstead Heath.
“The litter blitz is a good opportunity to raise awareness of
the problem and appeal to visitors to take responsibility for their
Heath.”
