Free morning swims for children and pensioners at Heath
lido
The Hampstead Heath lido is encouraging more people to take the
plunge this summer as it launches free early morning swims for
under 16s and over 65s.
The 7.00-9.00am swimming session is popular with those wanting
to take a pre-work dip during the summer. But the City of London
Corporation, which manages the Heath, hopes to increase the number
of younger and older people able to enjoy the lido experience.
The free session will be introduced on a trial basis from 5 May,
when the lido opens for the summer season, and run until September.
Those who want to take advantage of the offer should bring proof of
age.
Normal charges will apply for adult early morning sessions (£2)
and for day swims (£4.20 adults, £2.60 concessions, £12.50 family
day tickets for up to two adults and three children). Season
tickets for the lido only or the lido and swimming ponds are also
available for purchase.
The Grade II listed, Art Deco lido reopened in May 2005 after a
£2.9million refit, which included fitting a stainless steel lining
to the pool to reduce water leakage and installing a new filtration
system.
