City of London appoints Mumbai representative

The City of London has appointed Anita Nandi as City Representative, Mumbai.

One of her first jobs will be finalising arrangements for the City Policy Chairman Michael Snyder’s visit to India in late February. She will also be short-listing a location for the City Office in Mumbai. The Office recently received its official go-ahead from Indian authorities (Jan 2007).

Speaking about her appointment, Anita Nandi said: “I am delighted to have the opportunity to be part of such an exciting venture. There is enormous potential for collaboration between the City and India on financial services and part of my role will be to help facilitate that.”

The City Office Mumbai will promote the services of the City to Indian public and private sector customers, including the raising of capital, insurance, asset management, infrastructure finance and consultancy, and the exchanges of London. It will also facilitate the business development of City firms; gain and disseminate information on market opportunities; identify barriers to market access; promote the UK as a physical location for representation and investment; and support visits by Indian decision-makers to the UK.

The activities of the City Office Mumbai will be guided by an Advisory Board for India made up of senior Indian business people and chaired by Alan Rosling (Tata Sons Ltd).

Ms Nandi’s CV includes stints with American Express in the UK and Netherlands, Thomas Cook, India and the Times of India Newspaper Group. She has an Economics degree from the University of Mumbai’s Sophia College and a Masters in International Business Management from Nyenrode Universiteit, Netherlands.
