A great deal of information is already available on transport
during Games time and in particular, on how this could affect
businesses, public transport and roads.
Transport for London has a dedicated website as
a ‘one stop shop’ to help plan ahead and manage the transport
impact during the 2012 Games.
The website includes:

Further information
The City of London Corporation is fully involved in, and
concentrating on the many transport related issues that
will emerge during the Olympic period. Key issues currently
being addressed are plans for the
Olympic and Paralympic Route Network
(ORN and PRN).
What are the Olympic and Paralympic Route
Networks?
The Olympic and Paralympic Route Networks are a network of
roads linking key Olympic sites which has been created to enable
athletes and officials to travel safely and efficiently between
venues.
Measures on the Olympic Route Network will include:
- restrictions on road works
- changes to traffic signals
- banned turns
- side road closures to general traffic
- suspension of parking and waiting bays
- suspension of some pedestrian crossings
- temporary Games Lanes
The Network passes through the City of London on Upper and Lower
Thames Street which will be designed as Temporary Games Lanes. This
means that the offside line will only be accessible to ‘Games
Family’ traffic and on call emergency vehicles. General traffic
will still be able to use the nearside lanes and some bus
lanes.
Olympic Route Network consultation
As part of the preparations for the 2012 Olympics and
Paralympics, the City of London hosted four briefing sessions from
Transport for London (TfL) on the impact on business of the
Olympics Route Network (ORN). The sessions covered a general
briefing on the ORN, travel advice for businesses and also
highlighted key areas where City businesses may be affected. It
also allowed business leaders to question senior managers from the
City of London and TfL on the implications. Copies of the
presentations are available to download.
