London Metropolitan Archives holds an extraordinary range of collections and records about London. This site offers an insight into the archives, and practical advice on how to research and use them, both at LMA and online. We run a wide selection of talks, guided tours, film screenings, exhibitions and other events, and you can find out more about these as well as the latest updates from the archives on our news and events page.

Revised opening hours for LMA

From Monday 14 November 2011 there will be changes to weekday openings.  LMA will close on Fridays, but there will be an extra late night opening as we will stay open on Wednesdays (as well as Tuesdays and Thursdays) until 7.30pm.

The new opening times are:

Monday 9.30am - 4.45pm
Tuesday 9.30am - 7.30pm
Wednesday      9.30am - 7.30pm
Thursday 9.30am - 7.30pm
Friday Closed

 

Please note that our telephone and email enquiry services are in operation from 9.30am - 4.45pm Monday - Friday.

Search the Catalogue

A document from the City collections showing William Shakespeares signature You can now look through our collections catalogue online. This catalogue is also available at LMA online, or as a paper list.

You can use this facility to plan which documents you want to see when you visit us in person. You can search the catalogue without registering with us, simply click the guest button.

To view original documents you must register for our History Card. The card will also enable you to use more of our services when you visit LMA and allow you to reserve documents in advance.
