Although the origins of the City's livery companies stretch as
far back as 1066, livery companies play a vital modern role in
commerce and trade and are involved in extensive charitable
activities within the City and throughout the UK. LiveryLive Online
offers a glimpse of the variety of their work and we hope it will
lead you to discover more.

Butcher, Baker, Candlestick Maker: 850 Years of Livery Company
Treasures
From the rare to the curious, the ancient to the modern, this
major exhibition at Guildhall Art Gallery will showcase the
collections held by London’s livery companies, usually not on view
to the public. Visitors are invited to marvel at the splendour of
medieval illuminated manuscripts and wonder at the rituals of
livery company life, as the objects reveal the stories behind some
of the world’s oldest crafts and trades.
The exhibition runs 22 June - 23 September 2012 and tickets will
be £5/£3 concessions.
Free to Under 16s, FoGAG, Art Fund members and City Residents with
proof of address.
Additional information is available on
the Gallery web pages.
