Weekend visitors to the City will often encounter film companies taking advantage of the quiet streets. Last year over 1,486 shoots took place here, comprising feature films, television dramas, documentaries, music videos and commercials.

In the streets ...

Filming 'A Lonely War'  Features that have filmed recently in the City include Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes starring Jude Law and Robert Downey Jnr; Hereafter directed by Clint Eastwood and starring Matt Damon filmed in the famous Victorian Leadenhall Market; RA One starring Shah Rukh Khan filmed large scenes extensively on City streets over a series of weekends; likewise there will be many recognisable City streets in Johnny English 2 directed by Oliver Parker and starring Rowan Atkinson and Rosamund Pike. Salmon Fishing in the Yemen directed by Lasse Hallström and starring Ewan McGregor and Emily Blunt filmed on the Millennium Bridge; Pirates of the Carribean directed by Rob Marshall and starring Johnny Depp filmed in Temple. As a result of these and the thousands of other productions that have filmed in the City over the last couple of years, the City streets, bridges and buildings continues to feature predominently on screens all over the world.

Filming inside Mansion House As well as the City streets, the City of London's film liaison office can advise and assist with with filming arrangements in City of London-owned buildings and landmarks such as Guildhall , Mansion House , Monument and Tower Bridge .
