Training and support

The City of London is committed to supporting individual tenants and groups of tenants and residents to get involved.

As part of the resident involvement consultation, we asked residents’ views on what support they might need in order to become involved.

We will use these results to develop our new training and support Programme.

This is likely to include such courses as:

  • confidence building
  • committee skills
  • representing your community
  • writing reports
  • DIY skills for tenants
  • applying for funding
  • organising community events
  • housing services for beginners

We hope to have our full new Programme in place for April 2011. These web pages will publish it, and all tenants and Residents' Associations will be given copies.

In the meantime, all registered Residents' Associations will be receiving on-going support over the next year to help them meet their aims successfully and involve more members.

We hope that by taking part in such training, individual tenants will benefit. For example, courses could improve job prospects and self confidence. We will work with external bodies to accredit our courses where this is possible.
