Applying for housing

You must be over 18 years of age and have immigration clearance to remain in the United Kingdom. Anyone who meets the above criteria can apply to register on the City of London’s Housing Register.

Applicants who live or work within the boundaries of the Square Mile or live at home with their parents on a City of London estate will receive priority (local connection) points.

If you have no City (local) connection and don't  work or live within the City Square Mile, this will have a significant impact on your waiting time. Waiting time is in excess of 15-20 years for applicants with no local connection, therefore it is unlikely that this particular authority will be able to assist you with rehousing.  We suggest that you contact your local housing authority in the Borough you live or work in.

You may wish to use our online self assessment to get an idea of your likelyhood of rehousing with the City of London.

The City of London Offers general housing, and sheltered housing (applicants over 60), exisiting tennants also have the right to transfer to different estates.

Should you wish to apply for housing, please download and print the appropriate housing application form for the type of housing your are elegible for and the Housing Application Form.

Failure to provide all required documentation will slow down the processing time of your application.
