Occupational Therapy (OT) helps children, adults and older
people with disabilities, or with vision/hearing impairment, to
live in their own homes as independently as possible.
Our services include:
- Providing advice, support and information about your
disability.
- Advising you and your carers on different techniques to
overcome practical problems, for example, dressing and
bathing.
- Assisting with the provision of equipment to aid your
independence, for example, kitchen utensils or bathing
equipment.
- Advice on making your home safer and preventing falls, for
example, provision of personal alarm systems through our community
alarms scheme.
- Advice on suitable adaptations to your home , for example, a
rail on the bathroom wall or a stair lift, and how to fund
them.
- Offering, where necessary, rehabilitation following a stay in
hospital.
- Help with your transport needs, for example, a disabled persons
freedom pass or a Taxicard if you meet the criteria.
- Offering advice on hearing and/or vision loss, and where
necessary providing specialist equipment or adaptations
