Occupational therapy


O.T. talking to man in wheelchair Occupational Therapy (OT) helps children, adults and older people with disabilities, or with vision/hearing impairment, to live in their own homes as independently as possible.

Our services include:

  • Providing advice, support and information about your disability.
  • Advising you and your carers on different techniques to overcome practical problems, for example, dressing and bathing.
  • Assisting with the provision of equipment to aid your independence, for example, kitchen utensils or bathing equipment.
  • Advice on making your home safer and preventing falls, for example, provision of personal alarm systems through our community alarms scheme.
  • Advice on suitable adaptations to your home , for example, a rail on the bathroom wall or a stair lift, and how to fund them.
  • Offering, where necessary, rehabilitation following a stay in hospital.
  • Help with your transport needs, for example, a disabled persons freedom pass or a Taxicard if you meet the criteria.
  • Offering advice on hearing and/or vision loss, and where necessary providing specialist equipment or adaptations
