Disabled people - Freedom Pass

Freedom Pass

Freedom Passes also provide free travel on buses, tubes and network trains for disabled people across London.

Am I eligible for a Disabled Freedom Pass?

You are eligible if:

  • You have a physical or enduring disability which has a substantial or long term affect on your mobility. An Occupational Therapy assessment may be necessary.
  • You receive Mobility Allowance or the Mobility Component of Disabled Living Allowance, or
  • You are registered with a visual impairment.

Children with disabilities are also eligible.

If you are not sure whether you are eligible please call Adult Social Care on 020 7332 1224 or email.

How do I apply?

When you apply for a new Disabled Freedom Pass you will first need to obtain a Letter of Authorisation from your Local Authority. If you are a City of London resident you can request this by speaking to your care manager or occupational therapist, by contacting Adult Social Care or by filling out an application form.

The City Of London no longer issues Discretionary Disabled freedom passes.

More information is available on the London Councils website.

The actual pass is then issued from any Post Office in the City, or in the London Boroughs of Hackney, Tower Hamlets, Camden or Westminster.

Lost or stolen Freedom Passes

If your Freedom Pass is lost or stolen you must report it immediately to Adult Social Care either by phone or in person. Replacements will only be issued with proofs of identity and address.

For more information visit the Freedom Pass pages on the London Councils website.
