Emergency out of hours social work service
The City of London commissions an emergency social work service
that will respond in crisis situations that occur on weekdays after
5pm, at weekends and on bank holidays. This service is provided by
the London Borough of Hackney on behalf of the City and can be
accessed by anyone in the City of London and Hackney.

- Monday to Friday, 5pm to 9am
- 24 hours at weekends and on bank holidays.
What does the service deal with?
The service responds to the non-medical emergency social care
needs of all communities of Hackney and the City of London
occurring during its hours of service. The service
- deals with emergency mental health needs, including
assessments
- responds to the welfare needs of vulnerable people in
custody
- provides emergency need assessment of older people and people
with physical and learning disabilities
- deals with child protection issues, including urgent needs
assessment and homeless children and young people within the
requirement of the 1989 Children's Act
- gives information and advice.
