The Transport and Sustainability Forum is a sub-group of the
City of London’s Local Strategic Partnership,
The City Together (TCT). The Forum brings together key service
providers, community representatives, user groups and any other
agencies relevant to the specific aspects of the
Sustainable Community Strategy (SCS) under consideration.
The Forum supports The City Together in achieving the objectives
detailed in the City’s SCS and subsequent Action Plan. It also
provides expertise for monitoring, reviewing and updating these
objectives.
This will include using the sub-group’s specialist expertise
to:
- identify the strengths and weaknesses of current provision
- identify communities’ needs and aspirations
- develop objectives and potential actions
Working Groups will be formed in order to carry out specific
activities. Membership of each Working Group will be
determined by the specific expertise and influence required. The
Working Groups report to the Forum Plenary.
The Forum focuses its work on the following objectives as
outlined in the City’s SCS:
- To reduce the City’s impact on climate change and to improve
the way we adapt to it
- To advance sustainable procurement and consumption
- To protect and enhance the built environment of the City
including its public realm, having regard to its history as well as
sustainability considerations
- To conserve and enhance biodiversity
- To continue to minimise noise, land and water pollution and
improve air quality
- To ensure high standards of energy and resource efficiency in
the design and implementation of the built environment and to
encourage reduced carbon emissions across all sectors
- To encourage sustainable forms of transport

Current Projects
Insect Hotels
To celebrate the International year of Biodiversity, submissions
were invited for proposals to design and build insect hotels in
selected City of London gardens by teams of property
professionals. Five unique and innovative designs were selected and
the insect hotels have now been constructed in Bunhill Fields,
Cleary Garden, West Smithfield, Postman's Park and St Dunstan in
the East.

Middlesex Green
A range of residents' activities are taking place on the
Middlesex Street Estate this year. The events and activities
are connected to saving money, being more environmentally
friendly, becoming more healthy and working with the
community. The project will provide opportunities for hands-on
experiences and learning. For more information, visit the
Middlesex Green webpage.
Cycle Parking
The City believes there is a need for additional cycle parking
spaces in the City. A rigorous assessment of the most appropriate
cycle parking systems, locations and security arrangements for the
City of London is currently being conducted on behalf of the
Transport and Sustainability Forum.
