The Sustainable Travel and Transport category recognises and
rewards innovative schemes which encourage people to make more use
of sustainable forms of travel, transport and logistics, or which
reduce the impact of traffic and transport on the environment.

Tackling Climate Change
In association with The Worshipful
Company of Fanmakers and Pure the Clean Planet
Trust.
The Climate Change category recognises and reward organisations
who are taking steps to mitigate the effects of their activities on
climate change or to adapt their operations to reflect the impacts
climate change will have on their business.

Launderers.
Th Resource Conservation category recognises and rewards
organisations that are taking positive steps to improve resource
conservation through reducing the consumption of water, gas or
electricity.

The Worshipful Company of
Chartered Surveyors.
This category recognises and rewards excellence and innovation
in sustainable building design for new build and refurbishment
projects.

Greening the Third Sector (Formerly Access)
In association with The
City Bridge Trust and The Worshipful Company of Patten
Makers.
The Greening the Third Sector category recognises and rewards
the efforts of voluntary groups and charities across London, who
are making real improvements to their ecological footprints by
reducing waste, using energy and water more efficiently and cutting
down on transport and resource use. Applications are invited
from voluntary and community organisations that do not have the
environment as their main focus but which nevertheless have made
significant improvements in their environmental performance.

The Sustainable Procurement category recognises and rewards
organisations that have adopted comprehensive and innovative
systems addressing the social, economic and environmental impacts
of purchasing and supply chain decisions.

Environmental Management in Small & Medium Sized
Enterprises
In association with the London Sustainability Exchange
and The Worshipful
Company of Environmental Cleaners.
This category recognises and rewards innovative practices
leading to significant improvements in environmental performance in
SMEs.

Sustainable Food
In association with The Worshipful Company of Fishmongers
and Sustain: the Alliance for Better
Food and Farming.
This year this category will recognise and reward the provision
and promotion of sustainable fish. Organisations entering this
category should show their commitment to and understanding of the
issue of sustainable fishing, with particular reference to the
protection of threatened species, the sourcing of sustainable fish
and support for Britain's inshore fisheries. They should also
demonstrate consideration of aspects of sustainable food, as
outlined in Sustain's seven principles. This category has been
developed with the assistance of Sea Web.
Responsible Waste Management
In association with the
Clean City Awards Scheme
The Waste Management category recognises and rewards best
practice with respect to responsible waste management. Applicants
should demonstrate innovative waste management practices
particularly with respect to implementing the waste hierarchy of
minimising waste, reusing and recycling materials. Judges will also
be looking for evidence of how the organisation is tackling wider
waste issues, such as compliance with Duty of Care Regulations and
engendering pride in the local environment.

Air Quality

Environmental Protection UK and

The Air Quality Category recognises
organisations, both large and small who are leading effort to
tackle what is currently one of greatest environmental challenges
facing the UK- air pollution. Judges will be looking for processes,
products and materials which have been deployed in innovative ways
in order to tackle this issue.

The Farsight Award
In association with Gresham College,
University
Superannuation Scheme and Z/yen Group
The Farsight Award recognises the best individual piece of
analysis by investment research institutions which integrates
traditional financial analysis with longer term issues such as
climate change, corporate governance and human capital.
Contributors to the London Accord will
automatically be entered.
This category is open to organisations based both in the UK and
abroad.
Leadership in Sustainability
In association with the
London
Chamber of Commerce
An award will be made to the organisation which best
demonstrates leadership in sustainability. This organisation will
be chosen from the winners and highly commended entries in each of
the above categories.
Sustainable City Awards Overall Winner
The organisation that best demonstrates a pioneering approach to
innovation and leadership in sustainability will be presented with
the Overall Winner’s trophy. This organisation will be chosen from
the winners and highly commended entries in each of the above
categories by a high level judging panel comprising category
partners and eminent guests.
