A: Yes, the plastic is removed during the recycling
process.
Q. Can I recycle telephone directories?
A: Yes, telephone directories and Yellow Pages can be
recycled.
Q: Can I recycle corrugated cardboard?
A: Yes, corrugated cardboard can be recycled.
Q: Can I recycle drinks cartons?
A: Yes, liquid food and drinks cartons, such as Tetra Pak
cartons and juice cartons, can be included in your clear
sacks for recycling.
Q: Can I recycle shredded paper?
A: Yes, shredded paper can be recycled.
Glass
Q: Can I recycle ovenware, Pyrex, crockery, drinking
glasses or electric light bulbs?
A: No, unfortunately only glass bottles and jars can be
recycled in your clear sacks.
Q: Is it important that I rinse the bottles and jars first,
before placing them in my clear sack?
A: Yes please, as food waste mixed with the materials in your
sack can make them unsuitable for recycling.
Q: Do I need to remove the lids from the jars and
bottles?
A: Yes please, however they can be placed in your
clear sack loose.
Tins and cans
Q: Is it important that I rinse the tins and cans, before
placing them in my clear sack?
A: Yes please, as food waste mixed with the materials in your
sack can make them unsuitable for recycling.
Q: Can I recycle aerosol cans?
A: Yes, but only empty aerosol cans.
Plastic recycling
Q: What types of plastic can I recycle using my clear
recycling sack?
A: You can recycle plastic bottles and containers in your
clear sack, including:
Water, squash, milk bottles
Shampoo, detergent and washing-up liquid bottles
Yoghurt pots, margarine tubs, ice cream tubs and food
trays
Q: Can I recycle plastic bottle lids?
A: Yes, plastic bottle lids can be placed in your clear sacks
for recycling.
Plastic carrier bags
Q: Can I place plastic carrier bags in my clear sacks for
recycling?
A: No, unfortunately plastic carrier bags can not be recycled
using your clear sacks.
* However, plastic carrier bag recycling bins can be found
at Waitrose, Cherry Tree Walk Centre, Barbican and Tesco,
Bishopsgate.
Also, remember to take your carrier bags back to the
supermarket with you to reuse them or buy a “bag for life”.
These reusable bags can be bought from most supermarket
checkouts for 10p and if they wear out the supermarket will
usually replace them fro free, taking the old ones away for
recycling.
