The City of London is a member of
Greater London
Enterprise (GLE), the parent company of GLE oneLondon.
GLE oneLondon is the business support arm, specialising in
support for small and early-stage businesses and entrepreneurs in
under-served communities, including those in the City and City
Fringes.
As a member of GLE oneLondon, the City of London Corporation
makes an annual contribution of £25,000 towards the agency’s
business support activities, this funding is also used to support
start-up projects. In the financial year 2011-12, the funding is
supporting the ‘Innovative Start up Support for Small Businesses’
project, which will support over 60 SME’s in the boroughs of
Lambeth and Southwark through one-to-one advice and workshops. The
aim of this project is to create an entrepreneurial environment in
partnership with local community support organisations, by focusing
on key excluded groups to build capacity, break down barriers and
maximise success in self employment.
