The Local Development Framework (LDF) contains the vision,
policies and proposals for planning the City. The
LDF comprises a series of documents that are separately
prepared and together set out the City's planning
strategy.
An outline of the LDF, including the timetable for its
preparation, can be found in the LDF Bulletin.

These are the documents that make up the LDF:
Core Strategy
The most important policy document in the LDF is the
Core Strategy, which contains its
planning vision and key policies. The Core
Strategy was adopted on 8 September 2011.
Unitary Development Plan
The
Unitary Development Plan (UDP), adopted in 2002, was the
previous plan for the City. Most of its policies have now
lapsed, but some will remain in force until 2013, when they will be
superseded by the Development Management DPD.
Proposal Map
The
Proposals Map shows where policies of the Core Strategy and UDP
apply to specific locations.
Supplementary Planning Documents
Supplementary Planning Documents (SPDs) provide
guidance to support policies of the Core
Strategy. Several SPDs will be available for consultation
during 2012.
Development Management DPD
The
Development Management DPD (Development Plan
Document) will set out the policies to guide decisions on
planning applications within the City of London.
We consulted the public on options for the policies during
July - September 2011 and will consult on draft polices
in Autumn 2012.
Local Development Scheme
The Local Development Scheme (LDS) sets out in detail the
documents to be included in the LDF and the timetable for producing
them, including opportunities for public participation. The
LDS is summarised in the LDF Bulletin above.

with which planning policies are being achieved.

The preparation of the LDF is supported by extensive research
and information in the
evidence base.
