Site of the 1879 Royal Agricultural Exhibition, the 30-acre
Queen's Park has been owned and managed by the City of London since
1886.
It has been named a Green Flag Park for more than ten
years running, in recognition of the quality of its services and
environment.
It provides a welcome splash of green in one of the most densely
populated parts of London, serving the residents of the London
Borough of Brent in which it is located, as well as residents from
several neighbouring boroughs. Facilities include six all-weather
tennis courts, a pitch-and-putt course, a pétanque pitch, an
ornamental garden, a children's playground with paddling pool, and
a cafe.

Barbecues
Please note that barbecues are not allowed in Queen's Park. In
addition to the obvious fire risk, barbecues cause the grass
beneath them to die, making bare patches in the turf. These bare
patches are unsightly and can become colonised by problematic
species such as thistles.
Management of the Park
A management plan was produced for Queen's Park in 2009 -
download a copy below.
Queen's Park Management Plan (3mb)
Conservation Management Plan for Queen's Park
We are currently writing a Conservation Management Plan for the
Park. To create e a good quality green space it is essential
to understand the site, in terms of its history and its social,
cultural and economic context. The aim of the plan is to set out
the significance of the heritage of the park and outline how this
will be retained in the future.
The process was begun by the management team talking to staff
who look after the park, our in house tree team and ecologists
about the strengths, weakness, opportunities and threats that face
the park. We also repeated this exercise with park users on
Saturday 15 January 2011. We are currently compiling the responses
that will be available on line soon - however if you have anything
you would like to add please email
queens.park@cityoflondon.gov.uk
Play Area Refurbishments
In response to comments raised about the existing
playground, a master plan was produced for a new more natural
play area. In 2009 park users were consulted about the
design and 96% of people were in favour
of it.
Queen's Park Area Residents Association have already raised
£16,000 towards the cost of refurbishing the play area. If you
would like to make a donation or raise funds towards the new play
area please email
queens.park@cityoflondon.gov.uk
Charitable status
Queen's Park is a registered charity (No. 232986).
Any donation, large or small, or legacy in a will would be a gift
that lasts forever, as it will be used to make long-term
improvements in Queen's Park. Please call 020 7332 3322.
Queen's Park - have your say!
A website http://www.greenstat.org.uk/ has been set up to
record feedback and provide local residents with the opportunity to
comment on how open spaces nationwide are managed and maintained.
The City of London will be able to access this information and
compare results on Queen's Park with other open spaces up
and down the country.
We would very much welcome your involvement. Please visit
http://www.greenstat.org.uk/ and click on the
London region, where you will then see a list of organisations –
please choose ‘City of London' which is conveniently located at the
very top of the page. You will then be asked to select whether you
wish to comment on the Service provided by City of London, or to
comment on a specific Open Space. If you select option 2 ‘Park or
Open Space' you will be given a list of City of London open spaces
to comment on – please select ‘Queen's Park' from this list and you
will then be taken through an online survey.
Pets Corner is home to pygmy goats, rabbits, chickens, ducks and
guinea pigs.
Pet's Corner is delighted to welcome six ex-battery hens that
have spent their last year sharing a 20 x 20 inch wire cage. They
can now run free and enjoy behaving like chickens for the rest of
their lives.
They are currently very thin and bald but after a few weeks they
will get stronger, their feathers will grow back and as they get
more confident we are sure that they will be happy exploring their
new home.

Queen's Park has received the Green Flag Award for over ten
consecutive years. The award scheme is managed by a consortium
consisting of Environmental Campaigns (ENCAMS), BTCV and
GreenSpace and is the national benchmark against which the quality
of public open space is measured. It recognises and awards the best
green spaces in the country. More information about the award can
be found on the Green Flag Award website.
