Where to go at Burnham Beeches

Volunteer inside the Information Point  There are three self-guided trails for visitors to explore in the Beeches.  The Sensory Trail is the shortest at just under one mile long, taking under an hour and is suitable for families with children and people who are less mobile.  It incorporates five tactile sculptures, some accessible seating as well as an audio guide ( see the disabled access and Sensory Trail page).

The Historical Trail is around five miles long and takes about 2.5 hours, this is probably better suited for more seasoned walkers.

The Geology trail was devised in 2011 by Graham Hickman of the Bucks Earth Heritage Group http://www.bucksgeology.org.uk/. It is a 3km route that takes about 11/2 hours to complete and looks at the various geological features that can be found at Burnham Beeches.

Walking your dog at Burnham Beeches

Dog walking at Burnham Beeches Approximately 35 per cent of the 500,000 visits made to Burnham Beeches each year are by people bringing a dog with them. Following public consultation the Burnham Beeches Dog Code was launched with the aim of promoting responsible dog walking at our National Nature Reserve. As part of this launch we have produced a new information sheet for dog walkers. The sheet gives advice on how best to enjoy your walk at the Beeches whilst ensuring that you follow all the bylaws. The factsheet is also available from the Burnham Beeches Office.

Cycling

Cyclists are welcome at Burnham Beeches and we would like to encourage more visitors to come by bike rather than car. But at just one square mile with 500,000 visitors each year we are too small to permit off-road cycling. Cyclists are, however, welcome to use the network of tarmac surfaced roads, the majority of which are closed to cars. The factsheet is available from the Burnham Beeches Office or can be downloaded below.
