Management plan
Burnham Beeches now has a ten year management plan, the
present one running from 2010 - 2020. The plan is in a new format
which we believe will make it more straight forward for staff and
members of the public alike to read and understand. It details the
main projects which will be carried out over the next ten years and
the work programmes that staff will follow to achieve our goals. It
also looks to the longer term and includes the 500 year vision for
the site. To save paper and the environment, we have only printed a
few copies and are encouraging people to download a copy from the
link below, some of which will be available from the local
libraries.

Management plan consultation
The management plan is the result of over a year's work
including public consultation exercises, the main one of which was
held in November 2009 on East Burnham Common. Despite some dreadful
weather, nearly 800 people came and looked at the displays and gave
us their thoughts. They also had a chance to view the vision of
Burnham Beeches in 500 years time - this being the time it will
take for the new pollards being created today to reach the same
quality as the ancient ones that are here now. The City of London
staff were pleased to see that 95% of visitors agreed with this
vision of Burnham Beeches in the future. The data collected was
sent away for independent analysis and used to compile the report
below.

Burnham Beeches Consultation Group
The Burnham Beeches Consultation Group meets three times per year.
Members of the group include people from the local community,
representatives of closely associated organisations and local
authorities, organisations with a statutory involvement in the
management of the site and Officers and Members of the City of
London. The aim of the group is to help to implement the site
management plan to the benefit of visitors, wildlife and the wider
environment. Site users are also consulted on specific issues as
they arise.
Stoke Common
Stoke Common has been managed by the team at Burnham Beeches
since 2007, who have written a management plan for the site. The
plan runs for ten years between 2008 and 2018.
