Getting to Burnham Beeches
During wintry weather please take care whilst travelling
on the roads in and around the Beeches. They are not normally
gritted and can become very icy. If visiting the Beeches in these
conditions please consider leaving your car at home. Parking will
be restricted and access for vehicles will be prevented beyond the
fourth parking bay on Lord Mayors Drive to minimise the risk to
pedestrians near the café.
A recent visitor survey in 2010/11 was used to assess the
numbers of visitors coming to visit Burnham Beeches each year. The
survey was carried out throughout a whole year, at different times
and covered all the seasons, weekdays, weekends and bank holidays.
The results of this showed us that on average Burnham Beeches is
receiving approximately 580,000 visits a year; it also revealed
that 327,659 of those visits are by cars. From previous
consultations carried out at Burnham Beeches we also know that most
of our visitors live less than three miles away.
Please consider your journey to Burnham Beeches each time you
visit. Fewer cars on the road is better for Burnham Beeches
and for the planet! Happier wildlife and happier people too!
Cyclists and horse riders are welcome all year round, but please
stick to the tarmac roads. Access by public transport is also
available, take a look at the links below for your local bus
