Conservation Area Supplementary Planning Documents

Supplementary Planning Documents (SPD) are being prepared for each Conservation Area in consultation with the public.  These SPDs will eventually replace the Character Summaries and Management Strategies.

The following Character Summary and Management Strategy SPDs have been adopted:

Bank Conservation Area Character Summary Management Strategy SPD (4.75mb)

Charterhouse Square Conservation Area Character Summary and Management Strategy SPD (1.4mb)

Crescent Conservation Area Character Summary and Management Strategy SPD (1.6mb)

Lloyds Avenue Conservation Area Character Summary and Management Strategy SPD (2.3mb)

Supporting documents are available explaining how these SPDs were prepared.

Further Conservation Area SPDs will be made available for public consultation as they are prepared.

Conservation Area Character Summaries

These booklets identify and illustrate the characteristics of, and particular planning considerations within, each conservation area. In conjunction with the "Conservation Areas in the City of London: A General Introduction to their Character", they provide an indication of the factors of importance to the preservation or enhancement of the character and appearance of each conservation area.

Please note that character summaries have not been prepared for all conservation areas, and some relate to renamed areas or those whose boundaries have since been altered. They will eventually be replaced by SPDs.
