Letter to the Livery about Mayoral Appraisal process

7 May 2009

Mayoral Appraisal Process

As you may recall, under the appraisal process candidates for the Mayoralty are subject to votes by the Privileges Committee on two separate occasions.

In this context I was able to inform you in June of last year that we had expressed our full support for Alderman Michael Bear for the Mayoralty in 2010/11 subject to confirmation this year in accordance with the usual procedure.

I am pleased to inform you the second vote has now been held which confirms our full support for Alderman Bear for the Mayoralty in 2010/11. In terms of seniority, Alderman Bear has now been placed after Alderman Anstee in the list of Aldermen.

There is nothing private about this information and if there are opportunities to share it with your colleagues, please feel free to do so.

Yours faithfully

Peter Levene

Alderman Lord Levene
Chairman, Privileges Committee of Aldermen
