Victim support
Our services are free and available to everyone, whether or not
crime has been reported and regardless of when it happened. Our
trained staff and volunteers offer someone to talk to in
confidence.

City of London Police Public Protection
Unit
A dedicated resource that deals with domestic abuse and related
crimes in the City of London. The City of London Police Public
Protection Unit (PPU) has workers dedicated to a number of
specialisms to ensure that diversity requirements are met,
including a faith and religion worker and a Bengali speaker. They
work closely with the National Centre for Domestic Violence and
Broken Rainbow to provide services appropriately tailored to the
individual case.
Facilities within the PPU include a dedicated rape suite at
Bishopsgate Police Station, and a domestic violence suite at Wood
Street Police Station. The Unit are able to refer to a range of
agencies in the surrounding area, or in the victim’s home area.
This includes referral rights to Havens across London for medical
examination of sexual assault victims.
Front line police staff have received training in forced
marriage and honour based violence.

Whitechapel Haven
The Havens are specialist centres in London for
people who have been raped or sexually assaulted. Since the first
of The Havens was opened in 2000 they have helped over 11,000
people. If you have been raped or sexually assaulted in the last 12
months, the Havens will help you to recover physically and
emotionally from your ordeal. Their staff are fully trained and
hugely experienced. They are experts in advising, supporting and
treating those who have experienced sexual violence. The Havens are
available to help everyone, men and women, young people and
children of all ages. You can expect to be believed and be treated
with dignity and respect, and you can use their services without
having to report the assault to the police.

Rape Crisis Centres
Rape Crisis London has four centres that offer help, information
and support to women and girls who have experienced sexual violence
of any kind, at any time of their lives. Whichever centre you
choose to go to, you must call beforehand to make an appointment.
You will then be given the address details of the centre - Rape
Crisis don't publicise the address's of these centres to protect
the people who go to them.
Whenever it happen, whatever the circumstances, they will give
you the support that you need. Their services are delivered by a
multi-cultural team of trained counsellors and advocates.

The Safer City Partnership have long worked hard to provide a
safe arena for women experiencing domestic violence to report these
crimes and receive support.
This dedication has been reflected in steady increases in the
number of victims coming forward to seek help.
Sanctuary Project
A project has been developed with the City of London Housing
Service to enable individuals who are victims of domestic violence
to apply for additional help to secure their homes with measures
such as fire protection, window bars, and a safe room. To apply for
this scheme contact 020 7332 1654 during office hours or 020 7606
3030 out of hours.
fonesforsafety Scheme
A project in the City run through the City of London
Police which is able to provide victims of domestic violence
with an emergency phone alarm, on which pressing any button dials
999. The phone numbers are linked to the police control system
which will highlight that the household is flagged for domestic
violence and provide officers with relevant information before
attending.
Other
The Safer City Partnership can also provide a range of single
leaflets published by other organisations, can provide other
advice, and can run a specialist “roadshow” in your workplace on
request.
