A person found guilty of the litter offence may be fined up to £2500 in a Magistrates' Court and result in a criminal record.

Fixed Penalty Notices can be issued by City of London authorised Officers, Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs).

Authorised officers can request the offender's name and address. It is an offence for that person to fail to provide these details or to provide a false or inaccurate name and address.

Failure to give correct details can result in summons to a Magistrates' Court and fine of up to £1000.

If you are a business in the City, please see our Cleaner by Design leaflet below for more information on reducing smoking related litter.
