Trading Standards works to;
- To enhance the economic welfare of the community within the
City by improving standards of fair and honest trading.
- To control certain trade activities through inspection and
other enforcement methods to ensure that the health, safety
and economic welfare of those using such trades are not jeopardised
by unfair and unsafe trading methods.
Enforcement Policy
The City of London committed to the principles of good
enforcement, as set out in the
Legislative and Regulatory Reform Act 2006,
the Enforcement Concordat and the
Regulators’ Compliance Code and all
enforcement decisions are taken with reference to these and to
our Policy Statement on Enforcement which covers
all regulatory services carried out by the Markets &
Consumer Protection department.
