Archibald Dawnay Scholarships for
Civil Engineers
Bursaries available up to £400
Applications are invited annually from Inner London borough
residents (former London County Council area) currently studying
Engineering at schools, Further Education or Higher Education
institutions. Preference is given to Civil Engineering or
Structural Engineering as applied to building, surveying, and
allied fields.
Bursaries may support course or conference fees, travel or other
expenses.

Higher Education Research
& Special Expenses Fund (HERSEF)
Clause 1
- Financial assistance for 14-18 year olds
following Special Technical Courses in Inner London
- Bursaries available up to £500
Financial assistance is available through the Higher Education
Research and Special Expenses Fund Clause 1 (“HERSEF Junior”) to
assist deserving young persons following special technical courses
full-time at secondary schools or establishments of further
education in the area formerly under the control of the London
County Council. In the academic year 2010/11, the beneficiaries
must be between the ages of 14 and 18 inclusive on 31 August 2011,
ie with a birth date between 01/09/1992 and 31/08/1997.

Clause 2
- Financial assistance for teaching staff
working at Educational Institutions in Inner London
Applicants may be working in schools, FE colleges or HE
establishments in Inner London. Preference is given to applicants
engaged in teaching engineering and allied technical subjects but
others may be considered. The fund may contribute towards travel
and attendance expenses incurred at a course, conference or place
of research in this country or abroad. Staff on sabbatical leave
are welcome to apply. Applications from persons in engineering and
allied fields may receive up to 33% of their costs. Other
applicants may receive up to 20% of their costs. Recent awards made
under clause 2 have been between £200 and £500 per applicant.

Robert Blair Fellowship in
Applied Science and Technology
One award, value up to £12,000, will be offered for advanced
study or research abroad in Applied Science and Technology.
Candidates must be British citizens, at least 21 years of age.
The Robert Blair Fellowship presents one or more awards, with a
total value up to £12,000, for advanced study or research abroad in
Applied Science and Technology. Candidates must be British
citizens, at least 21 years of age. Due to the nature of the
charity's funding structure, awards are offered approximately every
three years. The most recent award was made in 2007 and the next
award is expected to be made in 2010. Fellowship applications will
be accepted nearer the proposed date, and details of the next
award, as well as how to apply, will be made available at this
time.
